| I AM GONE
It was a great time being your cabin Cedarville. I hated most of my dumb existence, but I've enjoyed getting to know you all. Thanks for all the comments. I will miss the students and their wonderful pranks and vandalism against me. And remember, if the power that be are getting you down, don't just sit back and take it. STICK IT TO THE MAN!
Farewell Cedarville | | |
| WOO HOO!
I just read yesterday in the Cedars that the Administration voted to remove the cabin next year and put it somewhere else, most likely somewhere very out of the way, or possibly even give it away to the town of Cedarville. So, I guess we have won at least a partial victory and may not ever have to see that stupid cabin on our campus ever again. Though, it's too bad that we wasted all that money on something no one has any real use for. Get it in your head, Dr Calhoun: No one wants to go read or have quiet time in the love shack! Selling it to the people of Cedarville as firewood would be much more useful and certainly more profitable.
So, you know how I said we wanted to put together a collection of opinions and such from the site? Well, you're all gonna get to see something even better. Dara Fraley from the library has decided to include a great deal of the opinions and quotes from this site into her documentary on the cabin, "Encountering Thoreau." I'm sure she has already contacted some of you to ask if she can use your comments. I'm sure you all are going to love that documentary, and you'll even get to see Ryan and I interviewed in it. So be on the lookout for "Encountering Thoreau" sometime next year.
I don't know how often we'll be posting from now on, since interest has died down and the cabin may be gone soon. But we'll be sure to update once in a while and let you guys know of any cabin news. But for now, have a great finals week and a restful summer. It's been a very enjoyable year running this site.
(Hey, by the way, mad props to the people who have TPed (or "Toilet Papered" or "Rolled" depending on where you're from) and pulled pranks on the cabin. I especially enjoyed the one where somebody wrote "Love Shack: Grandparents Stay Free" on the side during Grandparents Weekend. That was sweet. Keep it up guys!)
| GREETINGS ALL
Well, it's been amazing to see the response to this site. We now have over 85 subscribers and have seen hundreds of posts with people expressing their views about the cabin. Some of you hate it. Some of you love it. But either way, it's been great to see the response. We are planning on putting together a compilation of some of the quotes and opinions posted on this site, the results of the poll, and a brief statement of the arguments for and against the cabin. We may be contacting you to get your permission to use some quotes from your posts. If you have a comment you want to nominate for inclusion, let us know.
Well, I bet many of you have been wondering where this site came from, and who is behind it. The story has been that the cabin itself was blogging this site, but that doesn't make much sense. How would it type?

We created this site out of the rage and spite we felt toward the wretched cabin by the lake. We were actually surprised by the following this site gained. THANKS EVERYBODY!
So what now?? DONT STOP SHARING YOUR OPINIONS! Let us know what things, opinions, quotes, arguements, etc. should go in the official compilation! And keep discussing the future of the site. Do you guys want to see a more broad spectrum discussion forum set up? It'd be easy for us to do and could be a great extension to what we've started here. Let us know.
DOWN WITH THE CABIN! | | |
| PLEASE NOTE: Please do not use profanity in your comments. Several people have had posts deleted and their accounts blocked from posting here becuase they used profanity. We want to hear your opinions, even if you disagree with the site, but please respect the fact that most of the people who visit this site are offended by profanity.
If you have a problem, feel free to IM Projectwalden, which I will now try to keep signed on as much as possible. Thanks for your consideration.

Hello everyone!! It's been a while since I posted, but I knew you were all away for Christmas, so I thought I would wait until you all got back to spark some more discussion. My holidays were uneventful. I just sat by the lake. The snow we had recently was a nice change of scenery though.
Dr. Brown did respond to the poll results. Here's what he said in his email:
Hi:
Thanks for the info. I had checked out your site some time ago. Well done!
I trust that the intended educational and historical objectives of the project don't get lost.
Have a blessed Christmas!
In Christ,
Dr Brown
Well, Not much more than an acknowledgement, but it's great to know that Dr. Brown is willing to hear what the students are saying. He is an awesome college president.
What he said about the objectives of the project does ring true. I realize that I was not built to make people angry. Props to Dr. Calhoun and his class for thinking creatively. However, maybe this particular idea, while creative, could have stayed on the drawing board. Not really worth $7500 in my opinion. (And please note that that's all this site is: opinion. No one is claiming to be speaking gospel truth here.)
As for where this site goes next, that's up to you guys. A few people have suggested starting some sort of petition. Would anyone be for that? Would you rather just continue discussing? Do you suspect that there are some CU students behind this site and want to know who they are?
For now, let's go with this discussion question: Assuming I am not going to be destroyed or removed, how long should I remain here? One semester? One year? Forever? I'd especially like to hear from the people that do approve of my presence.
Anywho, hope you all had a nice break. Enjoy your new classes.
